Description

Even though only recently built (2006), the house is nonetheless typical of the Pays d'Auge. It is surrounded by a 9000 meter square garden with a large terrace which faces west. We are in the middle of nature and completely surrounded by an incredible tranquility which combines the charm of the countryside with the one of the seaside: in clear days one may catch a glimpse of the sea beyond the tree tops. The Houlgate shore is in fact only 4 km away. The city of Cabourg, is only 7.5 km away while the Houlgate 18 hole golf course is only 500 meters away. We have 5 non smoking rooms, all completely furnished and with a private bathroom, television, internet and Wi Fi.

Surroundings

We are 4 km from Houlgate and from its sea shores, 7.5 km from Cabourg and 14 Km from Deauville. We are also close to the famous shores of the Normandy Landings, 30 km fro the Caen memorial and 40 km from the famous Bayeux tapisserie - a magnificent 70 m 11th century embroidery which is included in the Unesco worldwide heritage list.

Activities

In the vicinities there are beaches where nautical sports may be practiced, otherwise one may choose to take long walks, play golf or minigolf, go to Deauville's swimming pool, off-road tracks, fishing, aerial activities.
Different sorts of tourisms: memorial museum of Caen, Bayeux tapisserie, Lisieux basilica, famous second world war shores of the Normandy landings, Honfleur, Etretat...

Food, wine and crafts

Regional specialties: cider, apples, beets, cheese (camembert from pont Lèvèque's raw milk, livarot, concoillotte), fish from the local port (sole, cod, turbot, mullet, mussels, shells...).
In the vicinities there are many shops and restaurants: gastronomic restaurants in Houlgate and Dives, fish restaurants in Caubourg, Deauville, Trouville...
We serve, for breakfast, our own blackberry marmalade, the regional madeleines and freshly baked croissants from the bakery.
